Snowy Days

Hello snowy March! I'm writing this while sitting at my window staring at the snow storm that is currently taking place outside, forgetting that it is soon to be spring and no longer the middle of winter. Thankfully I haven't had the time to pack way any of my lovely faux fur coats from the winter months as I am sure they will be much needed in the next couple of weeks. Due to all of this snowy weather I thought it would be a great opportunity to share some of my favourite winter products that are my must haves for when it is really chilly! From my cosy faux furs to my swear by beauty products, these are a few of my favourite things.

Starting with my must have beauty products..

Coconut oil is something that I have been using for years. I use it on my body as a moisturiser as it is so fast drying and ultra moisturising. I don't however use this on my face as I find it dries out my skin.. weirdly. As well as using it on my body I also use it as a hair mask twice a week at least. My usual routine is to lather it on my hair at night, sleep with it, and then wash my hair in the morning. This is by far the easiest and least time consuming way to do it as it isn't the most attractive way to style your hair! I usually wash my hair every other day and try to do this every night before I wash it.

My lips get incredibly dry in the cold and so I have tried out a number of different lip products. My all time favourite has to be Elizabeth Arden's 8 Hour Cream. I use this morning and night as well as any time I need it during the day (especially before I put any lipstick on). If I don't have this to hand then I will either use my Dior Lip Glow in shade 001 or my Carmex.

To keep my skin looking healthy and glowy I use Bondi Sands fake tan. I don't use this all over my body for every day, just on my face. To get a sun kissed look I spray this oil onto a big fluffy make up brush and I brush it, in the same way I would put on bronzer, on to my face. I focus this on my forehead and cheek bones and then buff it down my neck to try and make it as seamless as possible.

Last but not least I spray the Mario Badescu Face Mist onto my face before and after I put my make up on. I also use this during the day when my make up starts to look a bit dry. This is a skin saviour when traveling as the air conditioning and heating can really dry out the skin on your face, especially when wearing make up. It also smells like roses..

And finishing with my favourite faux fur coats...

Navy blue faux fur bomber jacket with faux leather from Great Plains. Currently sold out but here is a similar one that I found online...

Black ribbed faux fur jacket that I bought off Asos a few years ago. Here are some similar ones...

Brown faux fur coat, also from Asos. Here are some similar ones...

How do I keep my skin looking fresh and glowing over the winter months?

I love the winter months for wrapping up warm in big faux fur coats and having cosy nights in with the fire lit while watching my favourite movies. However my skin hates the winter months. It turns dull and dry and makes me look as though I have never seen the light of day. For previous winters I have always fake tanned to keep my summer glow but this winter I haven't had the time to keep up with it all meaning I have had to take extra care in making sure my skin looks just as good without it. I have done a few things that have helped massively with keeping my skins glow from diet to skincare products to making sure that I exercise regularly enough.
First of all, my diet. I am vegetarian however I do try to eat plant based meals as often as I can, this means no dairy products! - I only drink cows milk with a cup of tea and only the tiniest splash! Other than that I drink plant based, my favourite is almond mi…

I feel it is time for a new beauty post and as I have already posted about my favourite beauty and make up products I thought I would do something a little different for the changing season. One of my favourite things to do on a lazy day is paint my nails. I have always painted my own nails (I've only gotten them done at a salon once!) because I can do them in my own home in my own time while I am watching a movie and eating snacks which you can't do in a salon. Having my nails painted always makes me feel a little bit more glamorous. even on those days when I have not got any make up on or touched my hair.

Summer was great but I always struggle with what colours to paint my nails as I am not the biggest fan of brightly coloured nail vanish so I usually stick to a nude or light pink for the summer. Autumn  however is the best time to give your nail vanish collection an update so I thought I would get together my favourite Autumnal colours that you can wear all the way through…

I recently went into Primark and stumbled across a whole new range of products. There were hairdryers, curling tongs, straighteners.. in Primark.. All for under £10! This came perfectly timed as I had been really wanting to buy a curling tong for the summer. After imagining the damage these products could possibly do to my hair I decided that I just really needed to test them out and for £8 I didn't have much of an excuse not to.. so I bought the small curling tong.

The range consists of three types of curler, the small curling tong, a super skinny curling tong and a curling tong that is 1.5 inches thick and doubles as a straightening iron. They also do a hairdryer. I'm not 100% sure if they do any more products, these were the range that my primark had. All of these are being sold for £10 or less.

I have to admit I was pretty terrified of testing these curlers.. I am very protective of my hair and all I could think of what that video of the girl burning her hair off. (VIDEO
